We are now actively gathering and soliciting essays in honor of Jim Eisenbraun. Subjects are to be on the topics of Ancient Near East and/or Biblical studies. Please send submissions, or abstracts to James Spinti. Submissions are due by 5:00 p.m. April 1, 2005—we'd like to read him the table of contents before he goes home for the day.

Ugarit Verlag is probably best known for the series Alter Orient und Altes Testament (AOAT) and the annual Ugarit-Forschungen, as well as the standard Ugaritic text edition The Cuneiform Alphabetic Texts from Ugarit, Ras Ibn Hani and Other Places. But they also publish several other series relating to the ancient Near East, among them are Ugaritisch-Biblische Literature, Altertumskunde des Vorderen Orients and Altertumskunde des Vorderen Orients. Books are available in German, English and French.

Eisenbrauns is the North American distributor of these books for individuals, libraries, and booksellers.

The excavations at Ramat Raḥel, just south of Jerusalem, revealed a complex of structures that existed for hundreds of years in which the Kingdom of Judah was a vassal of diverse empires. Over some 500 years, jars bearing seals were stored at the site. The findings throw new light on the late First Temple period and on most of that of the Second Temple.
